hi, I'm Cassie, I'm 31 years young. And if you know me in real life you might want to stop reading right about… NOW

Still here? cool!

The first thing you should know about me is that I'm a Slasher. And a geek. And damn proud of both.

Fandom and my friends are the most important things in my life. I work to live, not live to work. I live for gigs, for doing the things that make me happy. Happiness is the one of the most important things any person can have.

I love, amongst other things, slash fanfiction, music, gigs, reading, shopping, pizza, chocolate, tattoos, piercings, tarot, angels, faeries, cherries, polka dots, plaid, the internet, my friends, Star Wars, Good Charlotte, Beat Union, Supernatural, Leverage, White Collar, Criminal Minds, Bones Christian Kane, Steve Carlson, Riley Smith, Bon Jovi, Goo Goo Dolls, Torchwood, Doctor Who, Simple Plan, Hilary Duff, MC Lars… it's a fairly endless list haha

My journal is NOT friends only I openly blog about… pretty much any/everything… my friends, my family, my job, my girlfriend, my sex life, dreams, wishes, fantasies… i post fanfiction and fangirling and rambling and poetry and articles and essays and memes and lots of pictures… like i said, its a little bit of everything rolled into one. Just like me, really!

so yeah, that's me! waves

It's all snowy out there, and mum expects me to drive her to the supermarket. My levels of DO NOT WANT, let me show them to you *pouts. a lot* It's also cold and I'd much rather stay curled up under my duvets but there's that whole issue of... I have no food in my flat so yeaaaah...

There's a lot of nostalgia around old franchises coming back right now. Movies, TV shows, even action figures! What's something from your childhood that you wish would come back? Why?

(This question will remain in place for a few days while Writer's Block is re-launched -- we'll have new questions each weekday starting on Monday!)
When I was a kid I LOVED The Hardy Boys books, devoured them without rest. I think I kind of wanted to be one of them. I loved the action and adventure and mystery and everything of them all.

I went into my library the other day - not an unusual occurence, I'm in there all the time - and found myself poking around the kids section, wanting to find one of the books. None. I couldn't find a single one. The Famous Five, other Enid Blyton books, Roadl Dahl, Joan Aiken... but nope, no Hardy Boys books

I even logged onto the library website and did a search for Franklin D Dixon. Not a single book in my districts libraries.

This made my inner 8 year old sad. And my 33 year old self sad. I just wanted to re-read some favourite children's books :(

Happy Friday, people of the interwebs. I hope you all had a good Christmas, if you celebrated, and a nice Thursday if you didn't. I'm spending the festive period with my mother and have so far we have managed like 36 hours without killing each other!

I got my saucepans and am very excited about them. I got some new slippers, and new trainers, and also got a box of Walnut Whip which is like a silly Christmas tradition.
I got mum the Outlander books she was missing and a couple of Wordsearch books.
Santa got the pair of us a quiz book.

The morning was spent doing a couple of quizzes and listening to Christmas music. Dinner was chicken wrapped in mozarella and bacon, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes, carrots and broccoli, and very tasty it was. The afternoon involve Trivial Pursuit and Hidden Object games, with bonus Jurassic Park on TV before the Doctor Who Christmas special.
Mum then watched Coronation Street and Eastenders, while I took advantage of her bath and had a nice soak reading Security by Mandy Baggott before snuggling down in bed and watching Strange Empire.

It was a successful Christmas :)

Today is going to be a nice lazy day. I'm curled up on the couch, listening to Duran Duran and playing around with my Amazon recommendations. I think there's some ER in my future too

This is your Boxing Day Wibble-A-ThonCollapse )

I'm having one of those days where I feel like I'm really good at my job and appreciated by various folk both internally and externally :)

I haven't even done anything particularly over and above but I'm having our lawyer say I'm "efficiency personified" and "very helpful" and copied my manager in. I've had loads of suppliers praising my efficiency and speed with which I turn payments around in.
Everyone I sent a remittance out to this morning has come back saying thank you and wishing me a Merry Christmas.

So this is what a Good Day feels like.. :)

I'd forgotten how heavy my winter duvet is. It's heavenly, I tell you! Had good sleeps, only woke up once to go potty and woke up as the wake-up light was about half way through it's routine. Those are the nights/mornings I like!

The Morning WibbleCollapse )

And now I go shower, dress and jump on a probably pretty quiet train. I have The Tale Of The Body Thief to read, and a playlist with a bizarre mix of Louise, Lordi and Duran Duran... yeah, I don't even know LOL

I am less than happy with the state of my flat today. I really want to get tidying but I have no motivation and my bed is comfy and warm. I need to get up, get out of bed, get dressed and get on with it. So, because I've found its worked before for holding myself to account, I'm going to post my wee little to-do list here:

get out of bed
get dressed
have breakfast/take meds
take out recycling
collect dishes - wash, dry, put away
wipe down kitchen counters
sweep kitchen floor
tidy bedroom
strip bed
dust and polish upstairs
vacuum upstairs

tidy living room
take rubbish out
dust and polish downstairs
vacuum downstairs
mop kitchen
change bed to winter duvet, make bed
put laundry away

Do I expect to get it all done today? No, no I don't but I'd like to make a damn good inlay into it. To be honest, even if all I achieve it tidy/vacuum my bedroom, change my bedding and put laundry away I will be happy.

C'mon, Cassie... up and at 'em!
